What will I learn?
The course is pre-entry foundation knowledge of electrical engineering and is suitable for those who wish to enter the industry and who do not yet have an electrical apprenticeship agreement.
In this course, you’ll get to wire a sleepout, work on a new build, carry out a limited range of prescribed electrical work safely and ethically under general supervision of a licensed and registered electrician and even gain some work experience with an electrical company! This programme is delivered at NZMA Auckland South and some of the practical work is carried out at NZMA’s nearby Mt Wellington Trades Campus.

Our practical hands-on training will give you the knowledge and the skills you need to start your career in this lucrative, booming sector. You’ll graduate with hard skills equivalent to a first-year apprentice, plus we’ll give your numeracy and literacy skills a big boost.

What will I learn?
The New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trade Skills with a focus on carpentry arms you with the basic carpentry skills so you are work ready.
This programme will give you the skills and knowledge you need so you can enter the workforce ready to embark on an apprenticeship. It has a strong vocational focus, so you’ll gain lots of basic skills about timber-framed construction, including tools and machinery, and develop practical skills through building relocatable sheds and houses. You will also have hands-on experience at a construction site through a work-based learning arrangement for at least six weeks, engaged on projects in a commercial housing fabrication environment. You will also learn about the building industry and the role of contractors and sub-contractors.
This is a full-time study programme to achieve 120 credits, and you can continue with your apprenticeship training to achieve the Level 4 qualification.

What will I learn?
Tap into the building boom! In just 20 weeks you’ll gain the skills you need to become an apprentice or labourer in construction or allied trades. If you already have a bit of experience in the construction industry, or have a Level 1 or 2 pre-trade qualification, this programme is your perfect next step. It’s fun, practical and workshop-based and is a great stepping stone to a career as a carpenter, joiner, plasterer, painter or roofer.

If you’re keen to become a builder but don’t already have an apprenticeship, this qualification can help get you into the construction industry. This practical, project-based programme will provide you with a solid foundation of all the knowledge and skills required to begin a career in building.
Included are the basics in workplace safety, trade terminology and concepts as well as the fundamentals in construction and installation processes and techniques. You will also complete a series of projects ranging from the preliminaries, foundations and support structure through to the interior linings and finishing work for a building. All completed work must also meet the appropriate consenting, quality and compliance requirements. As a graduate of this programme, you can go on to become an apprentice carpenter or a labourer under supervision. You will also be able to continue your studies with the New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4).

Each strand focuses on completing work to industry standards and to meet all appropriate consenting, quality and compliance requirements. You’ll cover the importance of safe working practices and communication in the workplace plus how to identify, read and use drawings and specifications.
As a graduate of this programme, you can go on to become a trainee working under supervision or an apprentice within your trade.

What will I learn?
This practical programme teaches you all of the necessary skills and pharmaceutical knowledge to start your career. During the course, you will undertake work experience in the pharmacy industry as well as classroom and practical learning.
The programme is taught in six modules covering professionalism and support, pharmacy law and dispensing processes, pharmacy health, advanced dispensing techniques, hospital pharmacy and anatomy and physiology.

What will I learn?
As the only recognised domestic student foundation pathway provider to Auckland University of Technology (AUT) health programmes, this programme is ideal preparation for further studies in health. You will gain important knowledge about health and develop a wide range of academic skills to support your future success in a tertiary environment. Completion of this qualification gives you the opportunity to apply for enrolment into higher level health programmes at AUT, Victoria University of Wellington and Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT). These include the Bachelor of Health Science (nursing and midwifery), Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Counselling. Achieving the Certificate in Health Studies (Advanced) also provides students with skills and knowledge suitable for work as a home based or community-based healthcare support worker.

Iwi-appointed kaitiaki to manaaki every tauira through kanohi-ki-te-kanohi hui or a phone catch-up with them every second month to see how tauira are doing.
Each cohort will experience at least two noho waananga where the focus will be about leadership.
